The Gift That Makes Life Real

  One of the most important questions in the Bible is, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?" Matthew 16:26  Today many people believe the man who dies with the most toys wins. Believe it or not, that was a sticker on my first three helmets. I could never see the importance of being a Christian and going to Church. I thought being a Christian was being a member of the Church, giving money, being a good person and doing good things.

  One day after years of being successful in my employment endeavors I realized happiness and contentment was never a part of my life. My personal life was riddled with many failures and mistakes. I realized life could never be a true permanent pleasure for me. I read all the self-help books and tried many of their techniques. I came to the conclusion they were very helpful in my work projects but had little value in my personal life.

   One Sunday I was attending the "Recliner Church" in my living room and a Bike Minister on TV emphasized how much God loved me. He said sin causes death. That was a no-brainer for me. Then he said, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Then he confused me when he said, God commended HIS love toward US, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
  
   He then asked if I saw myself as a sinner, (a person who has broken at least One of the Ten Commandments)and desired a savior in my life, Jesus was the answer. He said I should confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that God was raised from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture says that whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. (Romans 10:9-11) He finished me off with, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 11:13)

  I was amazed to find out you are never good enough to be a Christian. I was afraid God would not forgive all of my sins. Then in a matter of minutes the Bike Preacher said, "The only sin God will not forgive is your rejection of him."

  The question God has for you is, is there any reason you cannot accept Jesus Christ as your savior? If the answer is no, please repeat the sinners prayer out loud and sincerely from your heart.

  God be merciful to me a sinner, come into my heart and life now. Let me have a heart knowledge of your forgiveness not just a head knowledge. I will trust you with my life from now until I meet you in heaven. Amen
